The World of Allerune
"She had always felt a profound connection to those [books] whose authors had departed, the words contained within ignited by the loss, fueled by a purpose to become eternal—immortal."
-Morwen, Covenant of Crows

Born silent and still, Princess Morwen Silvatheon of Mystaleonne was declared dead before she even drew her first breath. With the miraculous wail of her cry, the court called her revival a blessing. But her mother knew better—something had changed within her. It was not until her thirteenth birthday that the extent of her curse was revealed. From then on, Morwen was hidden away in a tower, her presence erased for fear of the strange power stirring within her.
Years later, a fragile peace is brokered to end a war that Mystaleonne almost did not survive. Sealed by Morwen's marriage to the heir of the rival kingdom of Eldrenguard, she is forced into a role she was not raised for. Her beloved friend Fallon, whom she believed was dead, returns, but he is not the lanky boy she fell in love with, but a man driven by power and ambition. To hold her to her word, her brother king holds Fallon hostage until she can deliver proof of Leith's death. Morwen emerges from the shadows of her curse into a foreign court teeming with secrets, grudges, and treason. At the castle gates, she learns her betrothed is a marked traitor and that the king who welcomes him as the heir apparent is only interested in her kingdom's destruction.
During the tourney in honor of their wedding, an otherworldly creature attacks. Morwen is mortally wounded and her secrets begin to unravel. A perilous journey to a temple devoted to the goddess of healing is the only chance she has for survival.
Morwen finds an unexpected ally in a man she was never meant to trust. But love is dangerous in a world ruled by prejudice and fear. Morwen must keep everything about herself a secret from him, even as the mercenary-turned-prince tries to cleave through her carefully crafted walls. At the temple when all hope seems lost, an unlikely entity—the God of the Dead, king of the Netherworld, himself—offers a terrible bargain: her survival in exchange for her prince's eternity.
The very magic that ostracizes and frightens her may also be the key to saving both kingdom, and all of Allerune, from a far older darkness. One that transcends realms and awakens sleeping gods.
My novel, Covenant of Crows, is a tale of forbidden magic and the pursuit of acceptance, featuring a heroine who learns that possessing deadly magic does not make her truly evil. It blends themes from Arthurian legend with Celtic-inspired mythology to debate what constitutes as good versus what makes someone evil. Covenant of Crows is complete at just under 97,000 words, with a sequel and a spin-off in progress. Trigger warnings include parental death, death by magic, murder, allusions to sexual assault, physical assault, violence in a war setting, and infant loss/ stillborn /miscarriage.
